Two PhD students at TMCD and the Oxford Department of International Development (ODID) have made significant progress on their research. 

Mengchen Suo has co-authored a paper with Professor Xiaolan Fu titled “Chinese SOEs’ technological upgrading through OFDI: The impact of political ties and subnational institutions. A survey of literature”. This paper has been accepted by the Journal of Evolutionary Studies in Business and will be published in 2024. 

Genevieve Smith has been awarded the 2024 Horowitz Foundation for Social Policy Award for her PhD project, “What is the cost of 'objective' fintech? An assessment of alternative lending using machine learning on financial inclusion and gender equity.”
