Book launch event - '“Innovation under the radar – the nature and sources of innovation in Africa”
Join TMCD Director, Prof Xiaolan Fu as she presents her latest book '“Innovation under the radar – the nature and sources of innovation in Africa” at an event organised by the Oxford University Africa Society and TMCD. The event shall take place on Wednesday, 19th May, 2021 by 5p.m (UK time). You can register here for free.
The book examines the channels for effective diffusion of innovation in and to Africa under institutional, resource and affordability constraints. She finds that African firms are innovative but unsupported; the ‘under-the-radar’ innovations that widely exist in Africa as a result of the constraints are not sufficient to enable Africa to leapfrog the innovation gap in the era of the fourth Industrial Revolution. To discuss these findings, she shall be joined by:
- Mr Joshua Setipa, Managing Director, United Nations Technology Bank for the Least Developed Countries and;
- Dr. George Owusu Essegbey, Chief Research Scientist of the Council of Science and Industrial Research (CSIR), Ghana
