A paper co-authored by Prof Xiaolan Fu and Dr Shaomeng Li received the Best Paper Award at the 2017 European Academy of Management (EURAM) Annual Conference on 22 June 2017 in Glasgow, UK.

The paper, titled "Valuation of early stage technology in the information and communication industry" co-authored in partnership with Chao Ai of Huawei Ltd, presents one of the outcomes from the VEST research project funded by Huawei Ltd. The paper looked at the value of technology in Information and Communications Technology industry. It explored how certain characteristics of patents contribute to a patent’s monetary value in the ICT industry. The research offers a good hint at appraisal methods and managerial decision making in the commercialization of early-stage technologies.

The EURAM conference has been, for many years, a truly interdisciplinary platform facilitating a better understanding of innovation, with linkages to economics, finance and management.
